Jacob A. Dodd is an award-winning independent filmmaker who creates short films in 35mm and 16mm. In 2007, Dodd completed a personal film about his grandmother, titled Nunna Mia e la Barca. The film has been well received in numerous festivals.

Dodd is originally from Kittanning, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Ithaca College earning a B.F.A. in Film, Photography, and Visual Arts and a minor in Art History. Dodd received his M.F.A. in Photography and Film from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Dodd's work has been recognized by the Athens International Film + Video Festival, Big Muddy Film Festival, Rosebud Film & Video Festival, the James River Film Festival, the Jacksonville Film Festival, and the DC Independent Film Festival. Dodd works fulltime at Virginia Commonwealth University as an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Department Coordinator of Technology.

He recently completed a short 35mm narrative film, titled Darkness There, which was inspired by the life and tales of Edgar Allan Poe. The film was shot on location in Richmond, Virginia at the Edgar Allan Poe Museum and Maymont Italian and Japanese Gardens. Darkness There explores Poe's dark romanticism through the fictional blending of his stories with authentic historical artifacts.
